Ronaldo also holds the distinction of being the most expensive player in football history after his transfer to Real Madrid from Manchester United for £80 million. His contract with Real Madrid has made him the highest-paid soccer player in the world.

Presently recuperating from a menacing ankle injury, Ronaldo remains the most popular player to watch out for in the World Cup 2010. Though he has been temporarily forced out of the qualifiers due to the injury, fans eagerly await his return to the field with a bang in the South Africa gala.
